BACKGROUND
Mackenzie is a small community near the town of Ndola in Zambia’s central northern region near the border of the Democratic Republic of Congo. The community has over 2,500 households and 14,000 people – most working for below-poverty wages as servants, maids and security guards. The brick producer that formerly employed many of the townspeople has long since left, and the town struggles to survive.

GOAL
Providing children in a needy community with a classroom.
Education in Mackenzie, Zambia is only offered to students able to pay tuition, or first through fourth graders that attend the Mackenzie Community School. However, there is not sufficient funding available to provide an education to children that have completed the fourth grade.PROBLEM
The school needs funding to finish the construction of the fifth grade classroom.
Without this classroom, the fifth grade students will not receive an education.SOLUTION
Construct the classroom, using funding from The Posterus Foundation.
We worked with the International Relief Friendship Foundation (IRFF) to build a classroom for fifth grade students at the Mackenzie Community School. Now, approximately 75 additional students a year will receive a fifth grade education.TESTIMONIAL
Testimonial: “My appreciation and thanks to the whole Posterus team.”
